BAE Systems

BAE Systems has a long standing relationship with Erskine, dating from its days as the original Yarrow Shipyards. Over the years many of the company’s workforce have given up time to volunteer and raise funds for the charity through fun days, golf days and tuck shop revenue from sea trials.

This relationship was further strengthened when BAE Systems’ workers chose Erskine as their charity partner for 2010-11. Under this initiative BAE Systems staff are taking part in a whole host of fundraising events including raffles, bike rides, dances and marathons.

For BAE Systems, staff volunteering is a key part of their Charity Challenge partnership. Since the start of the partnership, Erskine has benefited from the many trades and skills of the Company’s workforce – from putting up Christmas decorations, to painting fences and even completely refurbishing one of our veterans’ cottages.

BAE Systems Charity Challenge Co-ordinator, Willie McLachlan MBE said, “With two care homes situated near to our yards, Erskine is a charity that our workforce has a close connection to. The Erskine partnership has allowed many of our employees to get involved, organising fundraising events, or getting their hands dirty and helping to renovate a cottage.”
